After delivering a keynote lecture at the Architecture_MPS conference in Bristol earlier this year, Professor Michael Jemtrud of McGill University's School of Architecture invited me to stop by during my recent visit to Montréal. Michael is the Founding Director of Facility for Architectural Research in Media and Mediation (FARMM), and his teaching and research at McGill's School of Architecture includes a number of collaborations in the city and province.
We talked about two projects in which Michael and his students have been deeply involved: Le Salon 1861, a co-working and community space in a deconsecrated historic church in the heart of Montréal's Little Burgundy, and Little Burgundy Narratives, an ongoing research-creation project in the same neighbourhood.
